World Diabetes Day!
Tuesday, November 14, 2017
November 14th is World Diabetes Day. It’s a day to be mindful of what diabetics go through and a day to think about our own health.

Diabetes is a disease that causes dangerously high blood sugar levels. When untreated, it can lead to blindness, heart disease, strokes, kidney disease, nerve damage, and other serious problems.

Though diabetes is associated with obesity, it can happen to anyone— skinny people included. According to medlineplus.gov, there are two major types of diabetes: Type 1, in which the body doesn’t make insulin, and Type 2, in which the body doesn’t make or use enough insulin.

If you’re fortunate enough to not have diabetes, remember to take care of your health. The most important measures you can take are eating a well balanced diet, watching your weight, and getting plenty of exercise.
